To other mods:

Upon connection, type /msg ChanServ register <password> <email>, replacing <password> and <email> with your desired password and your email address, respectively. This will register your nick, so that myself or Hara can give you channel operator status without fear of your nick being taken by somebody else.

When you join, do the following:

/msg NickServ REGISTER <password> <e-mail>
Then:

Code: [Select]
/nickserv identify <password>
If you haven't set your nick to be set upon join, then you can change the nickname with:

Code: [Select]
/nick <newnick>
And then run the identify command above.

How are you all connecting to this? All I get is something asking me to download a shitload of software I've half-heard of and then a shitload more that's completely unfamiliar, giving no sources for any.

Access to the chat room now requires your nick to be registered, and for you to be identified. To register, simply type /msg NickServ register <password> <email>, and then to identify yourself when you next log on type /msg NickServ identify <password>.

To moderators:

I have locked all channel modes except for m (moderated). Use this if things get out of hand in the chat room, like this:

/mode +m will silence everybody who is not explicitly allowed to talk.

/mode -m will set things back to normal.

To allow somebody to talk when the "moderated" mode is on, type /mode +v <nick>. This can be undone by typing /mode -v <nick>. Also, everybody who has operator status (in other words, moderators) will be allowed to talk regardless.

To kick a troublesome user, simply type /kick <nick>.

I think that's pretty much everything, as I said all of the other modes are locked because they won't need to be changed, and I can unlock them at any point if it becomes necessary to change them.

To add to the previous post, I've set it to automatically voice people who come in and are on the access list at the MEMBER level. I'll be adding various FES regulars to the access list as they come in, so if n00bs ever start spamming the place all the moderators need to do to silence all non-regulars is to type /mode +m.
