First of all thank you alot Britishgent, I always wanted someone to create such a topic to show all the members the greatness of the Quran.

Side Note:
Guys when I say there are contradictions it's true that myself found some but I always keep saying because many Christians scholars and thousands of normal Christians admitting that :) so hope am not offending my Christians friends when I say there contradictions.

THE QURAN CHALLENGE
And if ye are in doubt as to what We have revealed from time to time to Our servant, then produce a Surah like thereunto; and call your witnesses or helpers (if there are any) besides Allah, if your (doubts) are true. “But if ye cannot – and of a surety you cannot – then fear the Fire whose fuel is Men and Stones – which is prepared for those who reject Faith.”

I keep reading you state in criticism of christianity that the bible has many contradictions and that the Quran doesn't...http://www.answering-islam.org/Quran/Contra/

Can you please copy all the contradictions from that site here in this topic. That's because the Internet connection provider company have a policy that they block sites that contains adults stuffs and those of religions, for example sites created by Muslim bashing Christians, Jews...etc cannot be accessed and same goes for Christians, Jews, against Islam. I know that sucks but what I can do. Mr. Britishgent, can you please please please copy the contradictions here one by one :) if you cannot I kindly ask the others to copy the contradictions one and list them as mentioned in that site and I will answer all of you Insha Allah (Arabic word meaning if god's will ^_~)

It can never be contradiction and I will clarify every thing that seemed to you contradiction. You guys are lucky your having an Arabian Muslim here who can copy you the original Arabic text :) even though I don't consider myself a student of the Quran but a normal Muslim yet I am sure I would answer and clarify all the supposed-contradiction for the truth can never be defeated no matter how much people try :)

JUST BRING IT ^_~

Here is one for you:

"What was man created from?

Water
And He it is Who hath created man from water... 25:54

Allah hath created every animal of water. 24:45

A Clot
In the name of thy Lord Who createth ... man from a clot. 96:1-2

Clay or Mud
He it is Who hath created you from clay. 6:2

We created man of potter's clay of black mud altered.... 15:26

He began the creation of man from clay. 32:7

When thy Lord said unto the angels: Lo! I am about to create a mortal out of mire. 38:71

He created man of clay like the potter's. 55:14

Dust
He created him of dust, then He said unto him: Be! and he is. 3:59

And of His signs is this: He created you of dust, and behold you human beings, ranging widely! 30:20

Allah created you from dust.... 35:11

A drop of fluid
He hath created man from a drop of fluid. 16:4

Nothing
Doth not man remember that We created him before, when he was naught? 19:67"

Supposed Contradiction#1  "What was man created from?

1. There were times when man did not exist. Billion years after the creation of the universe humans were created. In other words, we were nothing before we were created:

"Did the human being forget that we created him already, and he was nothing?" (19:67).

2. Humans were created according a divinely guided evolution:

"Have they not seen how GOD initiates the creation, and then repeats it? This is easy for GOD to do. Say, 'Roam the earth and find out the origin of life.' For GOD will thus initiate the creation in the Hereafter. GOD is Omnipotent." (29:19-20).

"He is the One who created you in stages. Do you not realize that GOD created seven universes in layers? He designed the moon therein to be a light, and placed the sun to be a lamp And GOD germinated you from the earth like plants." (71:14-17).

3. Creation of man started from clay:

"We created the human being from aged mud, like the potter's clay." (15:26).

Our Creator started the biological evolution of microscopic organisms within the layers of clay. Donald E. Ingber, professor at Harvard University, in an article titled "The Architecture of Life" published as the cover story of Scientific American stated the following:

"Researchers now think biological evolution began in layers of clay, rather than in the primordial sea. Interestingly, clay is itself a porous network of atoms arranged geodesically within octahedral and tetrahedral forms. But because these octahedra and tetrahedra are not closely packed, they retain the ability to move and slide relative to one another. This flexibility apparently allows clay to catalyze many chemical reactions, including ones that may have produced the first molecular building blocks of organic life."

Humans are the most advanced fruits of organic life started millions years ago from the layers of clay.

4. Human being is made of water:

"Do the unbelievers not realize that the heaven and the earth used to be one solid mass that we exploded into existence? And from water we made all living things. Would they believe?" (21:30).

The verse above not only emphasizes the importance of water as an essential ingredient for organic life, it also clearly refers to the beginning of the universe, what we now call the Big-Bang. The Quran's information regarding cosmology is centuries ahead of its time. For instance, verse 51:47 informs us that the universe is continuously expanding. "We constructed the sky with our hands, and we will continue to expand it." Furthermore, the Quran informs us that the universe will collapse back to its origin, confirming the closed universe model: "On that day, we will fold the heaven, like the folding of a book. Just as we initiated the first creation, we will repeat it. This is our promise; we will certainly carry it out." (21:104).

"And GOD created every living creature from water. Some of them walk on their bellies, some walk on two legs, and some walk on four. GOD creates whatever He wills. GOD is Omnipotent." (24:45).

Walking on two legs is a crucial point in evolution of humanoids. Walking on two feet may initially appear to be insignificant in evolutionary process, many scientists believe that walking on two feet had significant contribution in human evolution by enabling the Homo Erectus to use tools and gain consciousness, thereby leading to Homo Sapiens.

4. Human being is made of dust, or earth, that contains essential elements for life:

"The example of Jesus, as far as GOD is concerned, is the same as that of Adam; He created him from dust, then said to him, "Be," and he was." (3:59).

5. Human being is the product of long-term evolution and when human sperm and egg, which consist of water and earthly elements, meet each other in right condition, they evolve to embryo, fetus, and finally, after 266 days to a human being:

"Was he not a drop of ejected semen?" (75:37).

"He created the human from a tiny drop, and then he turns into an ardent opponent." (16:4).

"He created man from an embryo." (96:2).

" O people, if you have any doubt about resurrection, (remember that) we created you from dust, and subsequently from a tiny drop, which turns into a hanging (embryo), then it becomes a fetus that is given life or deemed lifeless. We thus clarify things for you. We settle in the wombs whatever we will for a predetermined period. We then bring you out as infants, then you reach maturity. While some of you die young, others live to the worst age, only to find out that no more knowledge can be attained beyond a certain limit. Also, you look at a land that is dead, then as soon as we shower it with water, it vibrates with life and grows all kinds of beautiful plants." (22:5).

As you noticed we do not translate the Arabic word "Alaq" as clot; since neither in interspecies evolution nor intraspecies evolution, there is no a stage where human is clot. This is a traditional mistranslation of the word, and the error was first noticed by medical doctor Maurice Bucaille. Any decent Arabic dictionary will give you three definition for the word Alaq: (1) clot; (2) hanging thing; (3) leach. Early commentators of the Quran, lacking the knowledge of embryology, justifiably picked the "clot" as the meaning of the word. However, the author of the Quran, by this multiple-meaning word was referring to embryo, which hangs to the wall of uterus and nourishes itself like a leach. In modern times, we do not have excuse for picking the wrong meaning. This is one of the many examples of the Quran's language in verses related to science and mathematics: while its words provide a kind of understanding to former generations, its real meaning shines with knowledge of God's creation and natural laws.

Is there any more "SUPPOSED-CONTRADICTION"

Will they not, then, meditate upon the Qur'an ? Had it been from anyone other than ALLAH, they would surely have found therein much discrepancy.

That's not really a contradiction, Divito, it's badly written but you need water and dust to form mud, mud can be a clay, and about the clot...well I suppose Abdul's answer takes care of it.

I prefer the one line in [is it surah?] where it says not to listen to the jews and the Christians when they say there is only one way to God but don't hate them as they too will enter heaven" or something like that contrasted to all the "Killl the followers of the cross"

Seriously where is the contradiction?  ??? he is kind and merciful and just. We have the free will, if he reward us its his merciful if he punish he is just being just where is the contradiction? like any man, I am kind to my friends and I hate my enemies? how can this be considered a contradiction?

Chris Spaghetti
Hmm I really don't know which verse you exactly mean because there are many verses is similar, like for example god said don't insult their god because their god and your god is one. Or for example for the pagans, don't insults their gods because they will insult Allah without knowing him and being ignorant? do you mean this?

Or your talking about the verse where Allah speaks about the Jews and Christians, that each one of them trying to convince the other that they are the right, then god Answers no its not as you wish but those who believe in me and do good rewards...etc will reward them...

So any other supposed contradictions?

It is a supposed contradiction of creation. The site continues with this...

Solomon is amused at the speech of an ant? (27:19) How could Solomon keep his sanity if he heard all the voices of all the insects around him? He must have been drowned in constant chatter.

But, after all, who believes that the ants do think in these terms about humans? I have never seen ants run away when I put my foot over them. If they knew they would be crushed if they don't go away quickly why don't they move?

The Quran said that Solomon only heard the voice of one Ant and then he smiled. Now in the Quran Allah says that even the mountains and trees, sun and planets praising him? can we explain that? of course no? because we have limited abilities, can we see Angels? of course not because we are given limited knowledge and ability while some others are given miracles like Moses, Solomon? so where is the contradiction? this is not a contradiction just because your mind cannot grasp them :) for example how Humans can grasp that man will come back to life after his bone got smashed to dust? these sorts of things requires "Iman" <<< arabic word used for Believe it's exactly like believing in the Existence of God or not

y cant muslims eat pork??
i lold at before because they used in the same context as drugs

The fact that consumption of pork is prohibited in Islam is well known. The following points explain various aspects of this prohibition:

1. Pork prohibited in Quran
The Qur’an prohibits the consumption of pork in no less than 4 different places. It is prohibited in 2:173, 5:3, 6:145 and 16:115.
“Forbidden to you (for food) are: dead meat, blood, the flesh of swine, and that on which hath been invoked the name of other than Allah.”
[Al-Qur’an 5:3]

The above verses of the Holy Qur’an are sufficient to satisfy a Muslim as to why pork is forbidden.

2. Pork prohibited in the Bible
The Christian is likely to be convinced by his religious scriptures. The Bible prohibits the consumption of pork, in the book of Leviticus
“And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be cloven footed, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you”.

“Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcass shall ye not touch, they are unclean to you.”  [Leviticus 11:7-8]

Pork is also prohibited in the Bible in the book of Deuteronomy

“And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you. Ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcass.” [Deuteronomy 14:8]

A similar prohibition is repeated in the Bible in the book of Isaiah chapter 65 verse 2-5.

3. Consumption of pork causes several diseases
The other non-Muslims and atheists will agree only if convinced through reason, logic and science. Eating of pork can cause no less than seventy different types of diseases. A person can have various helminthes like roundworm, pinworm, hookworm, etc. One of the most dangerous is Taenia Solium, which is in lay man’s terminology called tapeworm. It harbours in the intestine and is very long. Its ova i.e. eggs, enter the blood stream and can reach almost all the organs of the body. If it enters the brain it can cause memory loss. If it enters the heart it can cause heart attack, if it enters the eye it can cause blindness, if it enters the liver it can cause liver damage. It can damage almost all the organs of the body. Another dangerous helminthes is Trichura Tichurasis.

A common misconception about pork is that if it is cooked well, these ova die. In a research project undertaken in America, it was found that out of twenty-four people suffering from Trichura Tichurasis, twenty two had cooked the pork very well. This indicates that the ova present in the pork do not die under normal cooking temperature.

4.  Pork has fat building material
Pork has very little muscle building material and contains excess of fat. This fat gets deposited in the vessels and can cause hypertension and heart attack. It is not surprising that over 50% of Americans suffer from hypertension.

5.  Pig is one of the filthiest animals on earth
The pig is one of the filthiest animals on earth. It lives and thrives on muck, faeces and dirt. It is the best scavenger that I know that God has produced. In the villages they don’t have modern toilets and the villagers excrete in the open air. Very often excreta is cleared by pigs.
Some may argue that in advanced countries like Australia, pigs are bred in very clean and hygienic conditions. Even in these hygienic conditions the pigs are kept together in sties. No matter how hard you try to keep them clean they are filthy by nature. They eat and enjoy their own as well as their neighbour’s excreta.

6.  Pig is the most shameless animal
The pig is the most shameless animal on the face of the earth. It is the only animal that invites its friends to have sex with its mate. In America, most people consume pork. Many times after dance parties, they have swapping of wives; i.e. many say “you sleep with my wife and I will sleep with your wife.” If you eat pigs then you behave like pigs.
