The Sun's angular velocity
« on: May 19, 2008, 02:36:28 PM »
FE predicts the sun's position in the sky should move with variant angular velocity.

It is universally observable that it doesn't.

Why?
I know round when I see it.

Piffle.  The sun's don't move in circular path's.

Your diagram does not take terrestrial refraction into account.

Atmospheric refraction.

That is no more of an explanation than "it's magic".
Vertical atmospheric refraction can only alter the apparent height of the sun not its angular position.

For atmospheric refraction to be an explanation you have to map how the air density alters radially.

Then you have to explain how the rays of light going through the same bit of air sometimes bend radially in and sometimes radially out depending on where the observer is.

First of all, the rays of light aren't going through air.

What are they going through then?

It's true man.  Read your bible.  It says clearly that there are waters above the earth.  It is cold in space, so those waters frooze.

You really aren't thinking about this.

This is a challenge to the FE solar movement model.

Why do you suppose the difficult ones get ignored?

Clouds aren't water.  Let me prove this:

*You can drink water.
*You can't drink clouds.
      {I was once in a cloud on mountain in Canada, I could not drink it}
*So clouds are not water.

You might be all like going to say "HEY MAN you just said that ICE IS WATER & you can't DRINK WATER ; what is up w/ that MAN!!"

But I didn't.  When God mad the universe he put water above teh sky.  It was water then.  When it froze it stopped being water.

So as expected, so FE'er is going to offer any sentient explanation, and justify it when challenged.

I wonder why that is?

From anywhere on the earth, if you observe the Sun, it moves through 15º per hour through the sky.
That is, the change of angle (angular velocity) is constant.

This is how sundials work and boy scouts navigate using a watch.

How far does it move at the north pole?

If you observe it, that is during those parts of the year that it is observable, it moves through  15º per hour.

Even when it is not visible, it is still moving through 15º per hour, you just can't confirm it.

I heard a story once that at the North pole, it takes 30 hours from the time the sun is first visible, to the time the bottom appears.  But that must just be a myth.

It is entirely possible. However during that time it will have rotated 450º.
That would be because it has constant angular velocity (I'm calling this CAV from now on)
