About all the money...
« on: February 25, 2007, 02:39:50 AM »
Alright so, unless I am sadly mistaken, according to the flat earth theory there is some form of outer space with stars and comets and meteors and all that fun stuff.

So If that is true, why would NASA say the earth is flat just to get money to explore outer space?

Couldn't NASA conceded that the earth was flat and still get that 16 billion a year to explore the 'real' outer space?

Why does the earth need to be round to have a space program? Why can't there be a flat earth space program?

Flat Earth Space Travel, in accordance with UA model, is much cheaper than Round Earth Space Travel. Bear in mind that the priniciple of Universal Acceleration dictates that in order to escape the Earth's atmosphere vertically would require the craft to constantly accelerate at 9.8m/s^2. After only a brief time, this would become impossible and the craft would return to the atmosphere.

In order to travel in space in the FE model, craft would have to run vertically along the Universal Accelerator, much like cars, or perhaps boats. This sort of technology does not require such egregious funding as the made up RE Space program does.

NASA will tell you it costs 15000 USD to put a pound of matter into space. It probably costs more if you want it to actually FLY THROUGH space for any length of time, but to leave the Earth, the only expense comes from lifting matter over the Ice Wall and carting it around on "space-boats".

You know, that's my other hobby. Shooting down Scientologists. Though, to be fair, those people are nutjobs, and actually cause harm.

Good thing about Flat Earthers, you are a little misguided, though a few of you are actually fairly sharp. But, you aren't all batshit insane. Loopy, yes. Tom Cruise diciples, not so much.
Monochrome morality, almost as much a misnomer as the ridiculous prejudices that it is oft based.

It has been said in a famous Sci-Fi Author's book (Isaac Asimov for those interested), that mankind, as a race, is collectively insane, and because of his insanity, will rise and fall many times before his final gasp.
My problem with his ideas is that it is a ridiculous thing.

Genius. PURE, undiluted genius.

If NASA was actually exploring space, they'd need to use that money for...um...exploring space. So, they wouldn't get to pocket as much money as they are getting right now.

So if they didn't explore space, they would most likely tell people it was flat, because that's what everyone thought, right? Why lie? There's no reason!

Then how would they get money?

By not going to fucking space and keep telling us that the Earth is flat? What does the Earth having to be Flat or Round have anything to do with hiding money? Maybe if they actually went into space and accidentaly made a lie and said it was round, and then stopped going into space, that might make sense.

You must remember, Round Earth theory started way back in the 1600's. Since then the idea of a Round Earth became popular and stuck around.

NASA just shows people what they want to see. If NASA came out and told everyone it was flat they would be pressured into spending money on actual research

we arent talking about orbiting, just space travel.  leaving earth and going into space.... no answer?

Constant acceleration means constant force.  That's a lot of fuel to carry around.

So what are all these space launches I've been visiting in Melbourne the past few years?

There is a possibility that it is just to entertain people, I guess. It was pretty loud and bright, but exciting. It was like 300 Black Cats going off in your face, and a Buzzing Bee going off in your pants. There is a possibility that they are not hiding all of this money: They are creating giant fireworks to keep people interested.

Refer to the "ever seen a rocket launch" thread, if the earth is flat, why not just fly over the ice wall into space?  NO cant be done, government wont let the government fly over it!

It could be done, but you would still need fuel to keep up with the earth, so, I don't see where you are going with this.

Exactly, if you need more fuel you need more money. So wouldn't NASA be able to get alot more money if we had a flat earth?

Where would all this fuel required for a few hour space flight be stored?

Does it really matter? If they need 10 times the amount of fuel, they could get alot more money.

And isn't round earth all about the money?

Not to mention you'd had to have a strong propulsion system in order to maintain earth's acceleration AND move away from it (in order to...explore space).
