Why is Every Other Planet Round?
« on: March 09, 2014, 01:57:18 AM »
If our solar system had made the Earth flat, some of the other planets around us would also be flat. We don't see this. Why?

What do you actually see?

What makes you think that the Earth should be the same shape as a planet?

Shouldn't logic tell you that small little things floating around in the night sky are not the same thing that sustains all of these different species that live on the Earth?

That's a bs definition of a planet you got there.

It is BS that you just assume that Earth must be exactly the same as everything else we can see at night.

I guess it is since by posting here I've had to assume the flat earther position in the FAQ that says that (for some reason) NASA will only make tons of money if the Earth is round, and has therefore faked every photograph/ study of the Earth that has ever been produced and checked by science.

You guys are pretty clever in setting up the one place you can get away with telling people that the Earth isn't a planet, I'll give you that.

Nope.  You are just using the Special Pleading fallacy.

Do you real think NASA is going to ever come clean about faking moon landings ,science, telling people they have been  faking photos for years .That  they were making & testing rockets & telling the public they were going to  the moon, when they were making them to carry nuclear war heads. Their would be trillion dollar law suits, billion dollar contracts lost. All kinds persons in high places being put on trial for theft & fraud. No more flying a mile above the 12 mile territorial airspace of other countries spying. The list goes on & on. you cant rely on any photos from NASA their lies are now to entrenched.

As a follow-up question: if the Earth is moving upward at 9.8m/s^2, why don't we see the Planets all moving downwards at us?

What makes you think that the Earth should be the same shape as a planet?

Firstly, the earth itself is a planet.  Earth-based optical observation and images recorded by the various space platforms have confirmed that all the planets in our solar system are basically spherical.  This common geometry is due to them all being formed by the process of planetary accretion.

Clouds of gaseous material and dust swirling around an emerging star (such as our sun) initially formed small pellets,  which then collided with each and made even larger bodies called planetoids which, due to a specific combination of mass, density, temperature etc then coalesced at some point to form larger planets, with tracts of mostly empty space between them.

This is a representation of a so-called accretion disc:

The two largest planetoids are shown with smaller bodies colliding and combining with them.  The sun is the bright body in the centre, with the clouds of gas swirling around it.

It's pretty obvious that this is the way all the planets in our solar system were formed, including the earth, as identical processes can be observed today using radio telescopes etc.

Why aren't Galaxies round?  Yes, I know there are some that we think might be, but in general, galaxies are disk shaped.  Why does "Gravity" not pull them into a ball?  Your scientists even think that the Universe is disk shaped.

It's called gravity.. as much as you might deny its existence, it doesn't matter a damn what you think..  The effects of gravity on planets and gas is well known.

Total rubbish, Where is the attraction? Spinning repels.

Can you provide a citation and/or a linked site  that briefly explains how "spinning repels"?

It's insufficient to simply claim that—in your opinion alone—my example (above) is "rubbish"
